HOW TO DRESS LIKE A LOVESHACKFANCY GIRL

I’ll take you through 6 easy steps towards dressing like a LoveShackFancy girl… they’re much easier than you might think!

Layer
Start with a dress, mini or maxi, it doesn’t matter, but a dress or initial layer is the most important part of building an outfit.
Add a sweater or a coat, or some sort of additional layer. I like to add a sweater and wear a small belt to tuck it into when wearing dresses. A nice little trick to make your sweater looks tucked in when really there’s no place to tuck it.

If you don’t want to hide your belt, flaunt it! Another option is to tie a wide ribbon or piece of fabric around your waist in place of a belt.
Also, layer your jewelry. Don’t do one necklace, when you could do two, or three. The same goes for your bracelets, anklets, and earrings. The more the better!

Mix & Match
Don’t be afraid to pattern play, and mix and match colors. You’ll notice most of the LSF girls wear contrasting prints and it looks so shabby and chic. Feel free to also mix your textures, if you have something with lots of intricate lace, then opt for a sweater that is more of a fine knit rather than chunky. Or if you’re wearing a silky cotton dress with a pattern, perhaps opt for the chunkier solid-colored (or more subtle printed) sweater.

Hemlines can be fun! Short dresses will look super cute underneath a longline jacket or coat. And the same goes for longer dresses and shorter cropped sweaters. Have fun with your hemlines and mix the lengths up a bit!

Messy Hair, Don’t Care
Don’t do your hair! Well, do it, but let it be less “put together”. One of the most iconic parts of dressing like a LoveShackFancy girl is having this effortless “I just woke up” look about them. Try curling your hair, then sleeping on it, or curling pieces in different sized pieces and curl them in different ways. Together this will make it seem like it’s “messy” but is actually a cute trick for that second-day bed head.

Be sure to accent your hair with something. You could tie a ribbon in it somehow, pop on a hat (and be sure to tie a ribbon around it too). I also like the idea of tying a ribbon into a braid or clipping little hand-torn fabric bows in a haphazard way all over for a really cute, fun style.

Socks
Who says you can’t wear socks with sandals? Do it. It’s one of the most obvious ways to channel your inner LSF girl!
Socks with sandals, socks with sneakers. When choosing your socks, opt for something either with lace trim, or perhaps something sheer or floral. You want to maximize those minute details that complete the look.

Show Some Shoulder
This is something I’m normally not that comfortable doing. But if you want to go all out, un-do some buttons, or pull your dress down on one shoulder so it’s not sitting “traditionally”.

Make your look seem undone. This is key to portraying that effortless chic feel that LSF pros do!

Put a Bow on It
It doesn’t matter where you put it, just be sure to put a bow on it! Somewhere. It could be in your hair, on your hat, on your bag, a cute scrunchie or bow on your wrist. No matter where it is, bows come with the LSF territory!

This trick works for little kids too! We all know LoveShackFancy can be an expensive brand to constantly buy. I’ll admit I have a few pieces of theirs that I have saved my butt off for and purchased for special occasions (like this dress), but there is no way I can justify a habitual dress purchase from the ever-so-beautiful brand. But by finding key ways to imitate and channel the essence of LoveShackFancy, you can dress like a LoveShackFancy girl with or without the price tag!
