Wow! Kids parties are soooo much fun to prepare and create! I am so thrilled with how this Animal Par-Tea came together and Everley had the best birthday ever. She still talks about having tea with her animal friends downstairs. So cute!

EVERLEY’S 2ND BIRTHDAY ANIMAL PAR-TEA

We had Everley’s cake made this year as I wasn’t feeling the urge or managing my time well enough to cook one myself and then spend the time icing it and decorating it too. The wonderful crew at Sweet Magnolia’s Bake Shop (a local Omaha Bakery) made her pretty vanilla cake covered in their signature buttercream frosting, finished with a bright pink drip. We bought some 3″ animals from Amazon and made them little party hats from scrapbook paper and tiny 5mm pom poms and superglue. Then stuck them to the animals’ heads to turn them into “party animals”! The cake topper was pre-made and purchased from Amazon as well.

We did a fair few mini DIY projects for this party. Particularly, with the inflatable animals and balloons. We bought three different inflatable jungle animals from Amazon – an elephant, giraffe, and zebra. Everley’s three favorites. We then dressed them in cheap tutus from Walmart and gave them some of the glittery gold party hats we’d made (by adding tulle cupcake picks to the tops for extra flair).

For the balloons, along with the foil “Let’s Partea” balloons, we had grand intentions of using the foliage garlands as tails for the 17″ helium-filled balloons but found they weighed too much (as light as they are) and the balloons stayed on the floor instead of floating. So we decided instead to weave the foliage through the balloon garland for some added interest and it turned out nicer than I had expected! The balloon garland kit we bought as a DIY kit off Etsy, as we had never done one before. But it turns out they are SUPER easy… so next time, I’ll just be buying the balloon garland tape and balloons in various sizes. These pictured are 11″ balloons and 5″ balloons in a variety of colors peachy pink tones.

Some other little decor pieces included a little square pink letterboard we displayed “Two cute. Two sweet. Two fun” on. And instead of using actual teacups, we purchased some silicone baking teacups with saucers that we’re indestructible and great for children to play with. We used our IKEA kids table and chairs, and an IKEA shelf as the cake table which doubled as a great food stand and present table. We just covered each of the plain white panels with marble contact paper to upscale the look a little bit, again… another super easy DIY. The gold charger plates we used as serving plates can be found at your local Dollar Tree or dollar store.

The cake stand we’ve had for a while, but bought from Target. I’m sure they have a whole range in their dollar section of the stores. And the mini clear vases were also purchased from there as well. We found the pink lollipops in the baby shower section in Walmart. The rattan placemats are actually vintage trivets from Etsy.

For the food, we made some lemon cupcakes with a lemon cream cheese frosting and wrapped little pink glitter scalloped baking cups around them to match the styling. We also made some double chocolate chip cookies and served “pink milk” as Everley likes to call her Nesquik milk in glass milk bottles with colorful paper straws. Some paper plates and napkins kept clean up easy as we had a few close friends and their kids over for dinner to celebrate Everley’s birthday and ordered pizzas and ate cake! It was a lovely evening and Evie had the time of her life.

We also made some little toothpick flags out of toothpicks and scrapbooking paper to pop on top of the cupcakes, and they looked fabulous! So many little easy projects that brought the whole day together. Although the day outside was gloomy and glum (and started snowing, even during Spring Break), it was so nice to have a bright lively party indoors for Everley’s second birthday. I’m already brainstorming ideas for her Number 3!

OUTFIT DETAILS

Brooke-Lyn is wearing a pretty yellow and nude speckled non-maternity dress from H&M (just sized up) and her hair is clipped back with a pearl barrette.

Everley wears a gorgeous little tulle glittered dot dress we found in store at TJMaxx (unfortunately, we couldn’t find this available online, but the stores we visited had a whole heap for only $12.99)! We wore gold glittery party hats with white polka dotted tulle cupcake picks stuck in the top (easiest DIY you’ll ever do)!
